Daily Pic: A work made of popped balloons by Chris Chernow, who was a student of my wife’s at the Corcoran. Since graduating, Chernow has been trying her hand at a number of media, including an installation of balloons, in shades of brown and pink and black, with race-themed texts printed on them. That, she recognizes, was a failure, but as the balloons deflated she reconfigured some into this strangely poignant riff on skin and color, figuring the tensions and distortions of race.
